Join squeals of preschool delight, help prepare preschool children for school, and raise awareness about the importance of early literacy with UW Jumpstart鈥檚 fourth annual Read for the Record event. The Collegium on Large Class Instruction happens just in time for fall quarter, September 22-23, at the Center for Urban Horticulture. UAA鈥檚 Kay Balston Named Adviser of the Year
Congratulations, Kay Balston, who was recently named Adviser of the Year by the UW鈥檚 Association of Professional Advisers and Counselors (APAC)! Balston, an adviser in Undergraduate Advising in Undergraduate Academic Affairs, received the award 鈥渋n honor of exceptional service to the 榴莲视频 students, staff, and faculty.鈥 One adviser each year receives this award.
2009 Bonderman Travel Fellows named
Eleven 榴莲视频 students recently received word that they鈥檝e been awarded a Bonderman Travel Fellowship. Students traveling with this $20,000 fellowship set off on journeys that are at least eight months long and take them to at least two regions of the world. While traveling, students may not pursue academic study, projects, or research.
UW sophomore selected for comprehensive Institute for International Public Policy Scholarship
UW sophomore Ida McRae was recently selected for the Institute for International Public Policy (IIPP) Scholarship, a major national scholarship that provides students from underrepresented minority groups with intentionally-designed education and training experiences critical to entry and advancement in international affairs careers.
UW Honors students selected to participate in Global Honors College seminar on sustainability
Eight Asian and American universities鈥斄窳悠, Columbia, Harvard, Korea, National University of Singapore, Peking, Waseda, and Yale鈥攁re considering the formation of a Global Honors College that will regularly assemble groups of faculty and students to study, on site and on line, issues of enduring and emerging global concern.
